Am I the only one who gets inspired to get some projects done around the house and tries to do them all at once?
Sometimes I wonder if there's a better way (in fact I'm sure there is), but for now it's the way I seem to do things and even though it's a little disjointed (and the house suffers a little neglect in other ways) everything gets done in the end so it's always worth it! When I'm done things are more organized (and hopefully a little prettier) than they were before.
Here are some of the projects I've begun to tackle all at once over the past two weeks. I've finished some and I'm just finishing up the rest. :)
1) Go through ALL of our paper backlog and find permanent filing/storage solutions.
2) Purge and reorganize the puzzle/game shelf in the basement.
3) Go through all of Jason's clothes and pull out things to go to goodwill. Reorganize his closet and dresser.
4) Purge and reorganize the kids Gracious Living drawers that stores some of their craft supplies.
5) Purge and reorganize the "toy closet".
6) Buy new matching white binders and add just a little colour.
7) Update the girls' "homework nook" (as I like to call it).
8) Go through our entire CD collection and fix all of the broken cases.
9) Finishing up my coupon binder.
10) Some additional organizing for my kitchen cupboards.
11) Putting together one of these for each of the kids.
And just for fun I bought a few little pretty containers when doing some shopping for coralling things around the house. (An idea I stole of course from Jen at Iheart Organizing.)
Still on my to-do list:
1) DIY jewellery storage: http://www.maillardvillemanor.com/2011/07/cutlery-tray-for-jewelry.html?showComment=1311347179280#c187935482756819465
2) Puzzle picture frame: http://estellelle.blogspot.com/2011/01/use-what-you-have-part-deux.html
3) Sewing kit in a jar: http://www.marthastewart.com/272417/sewing-kit-in-a-jar?xsc=eml_org_2011_08_25&om_rid=NsiUqC&om_mid=_BOVjpuB8bk0ThC
4) Mount Jason's grandfathers' hats above the basement desk.
5) Sand and repaint the bathroom, mount new towel hooks. (We have a really small bathroom and finding room for our bath towels has always been an issue. I'm so excited becasue I think we've come up with a solution!!!)
Anyways, I think it would be fun to share some of the details of these projects for anyone who also gets excited about these kinds of things. Let me know if you have any thoughts on which one you'd like me to start with! :)
I should warn you that these posts will likely be spread out over the next few months. Also, I'm not very good at getting a lot of pictures, but I promise at least have some. :)
Here's a little sneak peek...
